Tutorial
Here’s a quick’n’short tutorial of how I make gifs:
¤Softwares
- Avidemux (to select frames)
- Photoshop CS5 (to manipulate the selected frames and ultimately create the gif)
¤Tips
- Original video should be at least 720p to make sure you have a good quality gif (480p is fine, 1080p is the dream)
- Maximum gif width: 500K
- Maximum gif size: 1000K = 10MB
- Maximum number of frames: 15 to 20
- Big gif = less frames
- Small gif = more frames
- Layer text must be on top of all the layers (or frames) for it to appear the entire length of the gif
- Gradients can help you reduce significantly the number of colours of the gif without losing much quality
- When you’re done and want to save the gif on your computer, hit “Save for Web & Devices” and don’t forget to click on the little icon on the top right-hand corner then select “Optimize to File Size” on the list box before hitting “Save”
